The (X+2) Higher Secondary (Vocational) courses are affiliated to the West Bengal State Council for Vocational Education and Training (WBSCVE&T), a statutory body formed under West Bengal Act VII of 2005. This Council is now called West Bengal State Council of Technical &  Vocational Education & Skill Development. Two courses in Engineering and Technology discipline are offered. The subjects are mainly similar to some 1st year Diploma Engineering courses.

(ii)   Computer
 
Scope
The H.S. (Voc.) certificate has been declared to be equivalent of H.S. general certificate. After successful completion of the course some students pursue higher studies in B.Sc.(Major), B.Sc.(General) or B.C.A. Courses in some Universities. Most students opt for polytechnics by lateral entry to 2nd year through VOCLET examination. For lateral entry students will only be allowed to apply in the same stream as in H.S.( Voc.).  60% marks in Class XII final exam is required to qualify for VOCLET.
The students may also avail apprenticeship opportunities provided by Board of Practical Training (BOPT), or may choose direct employment under industries or to be self employed. 
 
Qualification:
Madhyamik passed.
 
Age:
Minimum 15 years as on 1st January during the session period to be admitted.
 
Session:
From June to March ( 10 months)
Session 2020-21 will start after lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic and will be as per decision of government. Online classes are expected to begin from 21st September/ 1st October.

Intake :  25 students per stream.
 
 
Fees:    Class XI –   Rs.3,300/- only (Rupees Three thousand only)
            Class XII – Rs.3,300/- only (Rupees Three thousand only)
 

Exam pattern:

Class XI – Students are required to appear in the Exam conducted by the Council at the end of the session during March. A student is not promoted to Class XII if he fails in even one subject. Therefore due effort must be made by the student in working hard to pass all subjects especially as they are technical and new to them.
The overall marks of a successful candidate in the entire course of H.S.(Voc.) is calculated in percent/grade as obtained by him in the Class XII examination only conducted by the Council. Mark sheet for Class XII is issued by the Council.

Working hours:       9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday
                                     9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Saturdays
Special stress is laid on attendance during the start of Prayer at 9.30 a.m.
 
Holidays: The institute has a list of holidays for 30 days in a calendar year apart from summer vacation as per norms.
 
Attendance
Higher Secondary Vocational courses are full-time courses with having sessional marks for class/workshop work in many subjects. Skills learnt on one day are invariably linked with the training imparted on the next day. Hence for securing good training great stress is laid on full attendance.  Minimum compulsory attendance is 75%. Students with less attendance may be debarred from appearing in the final exams.
 
Uniform: Two sets of Sky Blue shirt; Navy Blue full trouser ;  Blue sweater for winter. Black Leather Shoes.
 
Hostel Facilities: No hostel facility is available. However many students stay in rented rooms in nearby locations outside the campus.
 
Concessions: Railway concession is available in the local trains for students commuting daily from their homes to the institute.
 
Scholarships: About 5 students who are meritorious but financially weak are provided with scholarships every year.
 
Library: All text books have to compulsorily procured by students for the courses. However our Library has a rich resource of study materials including syllabus books for issue and reference. 
 
Extra curricular activities
Games like volleyball, football, cricket; gardening; participation on special occasions like Vishwakarma and Saraswati Pujas; programs in Belurmath as volunteers; publication of Annual Souvenir, wall magazine; occasional excursion.
 
Mobiles
Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the campus. Students failing to follow this discipline may be fined or if necessary discharged from the course.
 
Undertaking from Trainees
On joining the institute the candidates will be required to give an undertaking to abide by the discipline of the Institute, to take care of the tools and equipment entrusted to their charge, not to discontinue the course, and to confirm to any other conditions prescribed in the interest of the course. If they fail to fulfill the terms of the undertaking they may have to face disciplinary action including fines or may have to even forfeit their seat.
